Kentucky Folklife Program Partners with Bosnian Community for Symposium

This past Saturday, the Kentucky Folklife Program was honored to partner with the Bosnian Community of Bowling Green, the Kentucky Museum, and the Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology for the Remembering Srebrenica Symposium.

The symposium featured a history of the war presented by Arnela Zukic, followed by a screening of the Oscar-nominated film, “Quo Vadis, Aida?”

Saturday’s symposium was also the first time the Kentucky Folklife Program’s new traveling exhibit was publicly shared with the community. This exhibit was based on the 2017 exhibit created by the Kentucky Folklife Program installed at the Kentucky Museum entitled: A Culture Carried: Bosnians in Bowling Green.

We would like to thank our Bosnian and non-Bosnian attendees for being a part of this evening. Over 60 guests helped bear witness to the trials our Bosnian neighbors have endured on their way to becoming part of our Southecentral community.
