KFP Participates in Kentucky Crafted in Lexington

In partnership with the Kentucky Arts Council, this past Saturday the KFP team went to Lexington to participate in The KY Crafted Marketplace at Waveland. This great event showcases local makers and provides a place for the public to see what Kentucky artisans have to offer. There is also a Folk Arts Tent that features Folk Artists from around the state.

The 2021 Folk Arts Tent featured Willie Rascoe, a woodcarver who sources his materials from nature. We also talked with Tommy Case and his apprentice Daniel Graham, Luthiers who make gorgeous violins and other stringed instruments. Lastly, we talked to Wood carver LaVon Van Williams and his apprentice and wife, Debra.

Each of these artists helped us create our first ever Facebook Live videos as we discussed how they got started, their process and how folk art has impacted their life. These events are a great opportunity to hang with the community and talk to some of the incredibly talented Folk Artists who call Kentucky home!
