Photos from RUX Bowling Green

This weekend, the Kentucky Folklife Program was excited to serve as a regional host partner for the Kentucky Rural-Urban Exchange (RUX). With 65 RUX members from across the Commonwealth in attendance, this past weekend was spent learning about the history, culture, identity, and landscape of South Central Kentucky.  To learn more about KFP’s role in RUX, visit our KFP/RUX program page.

Welcome RUX! We’re so excited to be hosting the #kyrux2017 cohort this weekend! Kicked things off at the @ffoyamusic house this evening. Looking forward to exploring the culture, history, and landscape of Cave Country with this group! #kyfolklife from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2uH05iK

We took @ruxkentucky members to lunch at Babylon Restaurant in Bowling Green. Owners Wisam Asal and Ghazwan Nahdeh prepared fresh falafel, chicken shawarma, hummus, and fatoush, and then treated us to baklava. #kyrux2017 #kyfolklife #bgky from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2vhpBN5

Michelle Howell of @needmoreacresfarm had the Kentucky Rural-Urban Exchange (@ruxkentucky) out to her farm in #scottsville to share about the work that she does connecting people with food. Howell provided us with a beautiful farm-to-table meal, the Department of Folk Studies & Anthropology provided us with BBQ from the Smoke Shack in Scottsville, and the @deadbrokebarons out of Franklin provided us with the tunes. Can’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful summer evening in South Central #kentucky. #kyfolklife #kyrux2017 from Instagram: http://ift.tt/2eYL4TO
